Sporting Legacy

East Village is just a javelin’s throw away from the sports venues that captured the world’s attention and affection during the London 2012 Games.

In the shadow of the nations largest piece of public art, the stunning 114m ArcelorMittal Orbit, you can follow in the footsteps of our Olympians in five state-of-the-art venues. The Aquatics Centre has two 50-metre swimming pools, the architecturally-lauded VeloPark that boasts track, BMX, road and mountain bike facilities, the Stadium, the Multi-Use Arena, and the Lee Valley Hockey Centre and Tennis Centre.

While these facilities continue the legacy of London 2012 by becoming training centres for elite athletes, they will also be open to the public for use. Imagine being able to run or cycle where Victoria Pendleton claimed her gold, or swim where Tom Daley made a splash, or running alongside the next world champions

And just because London 2012 is over, the thrill of watching major sporting triumphs isn’t. The area is already gearing up for the first ever London Cycling Festival, set to become as big as the London Marathon, and in 2017 the stadium will once again reverberate with the roar of 80,000 spectators with The World Athletics Championships.
