Pigeons

In recent months we have received reports about residents feeding pigeons or leaving household waste on their balconies that attract them.

Feeding and leaving rubbish around can make pigeons fly into the village and mess on balconies and windows.

To maintain the village being a clean and peaceful place to live everyone needs to do their bit. This means not feeding pigeons and keeping balconies free from waste.

Fire Safety guidance

To make sure you and your family are safe, please follow these simple regulations when using your balconies, winter garden or patio area.

  • Please don’t smoke on balconies, in terraced areas, on winter gardens or in internal communal areas
  • Don’t throw cigarettes over the side of the building
  • Don’t use a barbeque, as falling embers can burn items on your balcony and others around you
  • Don’t use gas or electrical patio heaters
  • Please refrain from storing gas cylinders or any items containing flammable liquid at home
  • Don’t use candles, lanterns and other devices incorporating a flame on your balcony
  • Screening around balconies is not permitted
  • Don’t install electric lights, e.g. fairy lights, whether they be mains, battery or solar powered.
  • Indoor furniture, e.g. sofas, floor coverings or rugs made of combustible material, are not allowed on the balconies
  • White/electrical goods such as fridges and tumble dryers should not be stored on balconies

Cleaning around the village

The cleaners moved over to Verna House and Rye Mansions on Monday 12 July and are estimated to take four weeks to complete their work. Façade cleaning will take place first followed by the windows.

Please keep your windows closed between 8am and 4pm. If your windows have not been cleaned by the end of next week, please let us know and we will have them sorted for you as soon as possible.
