Starting your tenancy
We’ll invite you in to sign up to your tenancy, whether you are a social or intermediate renter or a shared ownership resident. One of our team will talk you through all of the documentation, the tenancy or lease and what you can expect as a Triathlon Homes resident. This process takes about 1.5 hours, so make sure you allow plenty of time.
If you are a social rented resident you’ll need to bring in some documents with you and it’s important that you remember these so we can start your tenancy. Have a look at the checklist. You’ll also need to pay a week’s rent in advance when you start your tenancy.
We have a lot of households to move in over the coming months, and we’re doing our best to make sure your move in runs as smoothly as possible. We’ll book you a moving in slot for you to park your car or van in front of your building, especially handy for those large items. Download the Moving in guide.
When you move in you’ll be provided with a ‘You and your landlord’ guide which sets out all the services you’ll get from Triathlon Homes. You’ll also have an extensive folder in your home which includes the instruction for how everything in your home and building works, how to connect to phone/television and internet services and the features of East Village. It’s a lot of information, but well worth a read to see how everything works.
Your heating and hot water
The heating supply in your new home is provided by East London Energy, and when you move in it will be set to default time and temperature settings which may not suit your own personal requirements or which may mean the heating system is set to come on when you are not at home. You’ll find out more in your manual and there is also a simple guide to setting your heating, or you can find answers to some frequently asked questions about your energy and energy bills at East London Energy.
The East Village Management team provide us with meter readings on the last day of every month. These readings are taken from the EDF Energy meters. They also submit readings from any water meters that are not located inside a property. Your East London Energy meter is located in your home. We will not automatically update residents with this information so if you would like your meter reading please contact us on 020 8522 2012 or email@example.com after the readings have been submitted at the end of the month.
